Savings
Having money tucked away is a great feeling. Is it a "Just in Case" fund? A "Rainy Day" fund? Or, maybe it's a "Fun Money" fund? Whatever you call it, making a habit of saving money provides financial freedom and security.
Saving: It's Part of Our Mission
At North Coast, we strongly believe in the importance of saving. In fact: the first step in joining a credit union is to open a savings account, and we call it a share account because it confers these basic rights of ownership.
Saving is that important.
Other Ways to Save
In addition to basic savings accounts, we have a variety of other products and services to help you save. Our Money Market Savings account, and our certificates of deposit offer higher returns and promote long term savings.
What Are Your Goals?
Come on in and discuss your vision with one of our talented representatives; together, we can build an account package that best suits your financial vision. By seeing your vision, we achieve ours: to serve our members, and reinvest into our local communities.
Youth Savings Accounts
It's never too early to start learning about saving. When we say that North Coast offers accounts for the whole family, we mean it. Our youth accounts are offered for members under age 18.
If you want to help someone start saving, this is a great way to begin.
Report Card Awards
If you're older than 13, we'll give you $5 (as a deposit to your account) if you have at least a 3.0 grade point average.
Younger than 13? Bring in your report card and we'll give you $5 too.
Saving More: Certificates of Deposit
Our youth accounts come with an offer for a special certificate of deposit. We call it our Build-a-Certificate. At opening, a minimum deposit of $250 is required, for a one-year term. Additional deposits of $50 or more can be made at any time.
When a certificate of deposit is opened or renewed with $1000 or more, an additional .25% is applied to the rate.
Parents: Help your Children Save
One fantastic advantage of accounts for the whole family is how easy it is to share money with others using Home Banking. Transfers are easy, fast, and free. You can even make sub-accounts to help manage your funds.
One of our members wanted to help save for her children, nieces, and nephews. Each month, she transfers $5 into each of their accounts, automatically. "It's a small enough amount, that I can always manage it financially, and because it's automatic I can't forget to do it." Do the math and see how quickly scheduled transfers add up.
