    How to Spot a Skimmer

    What is a Credit Card Skimmer?

    Skimmers are devices that enable thieves to steal card data and use if for fraudulent transactions.

    These devices are created to look exactly like the ATM or gas pump the criminals are targeting. Once they are attached, the device reads the magnetic stripe on your credit or debit card when you slide it into a car reader. The skimmer stores the card number, expiration date and cardholder’s name.

    Dear Members,

    We have recently discovered a “Skimmer” was placed on the ATMs at our Sedro-Woolley and Mount Vernon branch on week end dates in late April and early May. A “Skimmer” is a card reader that can be disguised to look like part of an ATM. The skimmer attachment collects card numbers and PIN codes, which are then replicated into counterfeit cards.

    I hope this message finds you healthy and well.  Things are changing daily so I want to check in with you and share what is happening at our branches.

    Beware of COVID-19 Related Scams

    We should all be alert for scammers using the COVID-19 outbreak to take advantage of people desperate to find a cure, offering free products or offering hard-to-find products at highly inflated prices.

    You cannot buy a COVID-19 “cure”. This coronavirus is new. There is no known cure at this time.

    Scammers offering “free” or hard to find products will ask for your personal information before they can mail your packages. When someone starts asking for this information delete the email, hang up the phone and stop all contact.

    Due to current circumstances, the availability of our branches is limited. Here are other ways to make a secure deposit. 

    Mobile Check Deposit. Available on your Smart Phone with the North Coast Mobile App. Click here for Mobile Deposit Instructions.

    Drive Thru Service, available at every branch from 8am to 6pm.  (Sedro-Woolley does not have a Drive Thru)

    All of our branches have ATMS that take deposits.
