    Marilyn Brink, North Coast CEO, (left), and Thomas Boucher, North Coast Community Development Officer, presented Cheryl Bishop, CEO Skagit Bank, with the Skagit Change-Maker Award, Inspired by the Life of Terry Belcoe, yesterday, during the unveiling of the Skagit Prosperity Report. Cheryl Bishop is the first to receive this prestigious award given to a person who has demonstrated dedication to improving our community. Cheryl Bishop absolutely deserves this recognition.

    Virginia Garza, Ferndale branch (far right) and Olivo Flores-Cruz, Mount Vernon branch (their from left) taught the Financial PEOPLE Budgeting & Debt Reduction class at Head Start. Susan Lanahan, Executive Admin. Assistant was there to support and observe. These Head Start parents will take six financial classes and graduate with a certificate of completion.     It was May of 1939. A gallon of gas was 10 cents and the average salary was just over $1,700 per year. In the back of the Bellingham Firehouse, the City of Bellingham Employees Credit Union was born. Loan transactions were made out of a single cash drawer and were sometimes interrupted when the fire bell rang!

    The Board of Directors for North Coast Credit Union has named Marilyn Brink as their new President and Chief Executive Officer. Brink succeeds past President and CEO Terry Belcoe. Brink assumes her new role immediately.
